Spoleto Jazz 2024
The fifth edition of the Spoleto Jazz music festival will be held from 11 October to 7 November 2024 on the stages of the Teatro Caio Melisso-Spazio Carla Fendi and Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti, with internationally renowned artists.
The curtain will rise on Friday 11 October with American guitarist Greg Howe, who celebrates his 40-year career at Caio Melisso with Lost and Found. Howe, known for his collaboration with the likes of Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake and Rihanna, stands out for his innovative technique and the funk, jazz and blues influences that characterise his style. Alongside Howe is the young Indian bassist Mohini Dey, the only woman on Music Radar's list of the 10 best bassists of the 21st century.
On 25 October, it will be the turn of the Stefano Di Battista 5tet with La Dolce Vita.
The famous Italian jazz saxophonist continues his journey-homage to great Italian music, which this time makes a stop in the golden age of Italian cinema and music. Next to Nino Rota's composition that offers its title to the album, we find Paolo Conte with his Via con me, or Nicola Piovani with La vita è bella, we find pop songs and the echo of opera in Lucio Dalla's now classic Caruso. Everything is held together by original arrangements and intense performances, as well as Di Battista's incredible ability to transform each song into something different, taking the listener to a magical elsewhere.
Finally, the festival will close on 7 November with the jazz stars of the Dave Weckl & Tom Kennedy Project, who will take the stage at the Teatro Menotti for a leg of their European Tour. Dave Weckl, a drumming legend with a career spanning over 40 years, has collaborated with numerous world-famous artists and is considered one of the greatest living drummers.
