The Goose Palio
The Goose Palio is a popular version of the old knight tournaments: the goose, a fat bird, is the cheap version of the award, instead of a rich damsel or a castle.
The challenge, preceded by an historical parade, consists in inserting the sharp end of a long wooden pole in the hole of the tank full of water placed approximately three metres high, containing a fake goose. The competitor must stand over the cart pulled by two running people. If the hole is not centred, the water of the container will spill onto the unfortunate competitor.
The calendar of the initiative includes:
- 11 am: Crossbow tournament;
- 3 pm: Palio for teenagers;
- 4 pm: historical parade and
- 5.30 pm: Palio
