Solo exhibition of the multidisciplinary artist Laure Hassel, at Palazzo Corgna, Città della Pieve

Città della Pieve

12.10.2024 - 10.11.2024

From 12 October to 10 November 2024, the first exhibition in Italy of Belgian multidisciplinary artist Laure Hassel entitled ‘Paesaggi Riparati - Omaggio a Pippa Bacca’ will be held in the magnificent setting of Palazzo della Corgna, in Città della Pieve. The exhibition, which will consist of paintings, installations and videos, will be an itinerary imagined as a dialogue with the frescoes of the historical palace and will have as its leitmotif the history of Pippa Bacca's performance art. On 8 March 2008, Pippa Bacca, a Milanese performer born in ‘74, began a journey entitled “The Travelling Bride”. Hitchhiking from Milan to Jerusalem, crossing the Balkans, Turkey and the Middle East, Pippa Bacca, dressed in an imposing bride's dress, aspired to symbolically cleanse the regions and landscapes crossed marked by violence and thus establish dialogues carrying a humanist and pacifist message.  Unfortunately, the artist never returned, victim of the violence of a man who took her hitchhiking in Turkey. The project involves a look at the feminine and ecology that underlies Laure Hassel's entire artistic process, given her strong connection to nature and her concern for environmental and climate issues.
