Chapel of San Severo - Perugia

The Chapel of San Severo stands next to the small Church of San Severo, in Rione di Porta Sole, the highest point in the city of Perugia.

The chapel houses the only remaining work of the many that Raphael made for the city of Perugia: the Trinity with Benedictine and Camaldolese Saints. The fresco depicts the Trinity with Saints Maurus, Placidus, Benedict the Martyr and John the Monk, commissioned by Bishop Troilo Baglioni and executed between 1505 and 1508.
The work, left unfinished when Julius II summoned Raphael to Rome, was completed in 1521 by the now elderly Pietro Vannucci, known as Perugino. The Saints Scholastica, Jerome, John the Evangelist, Gregory the Great, Boniface and Martha, added in the lower part, are attributed to him.
