Umbria Jazz Weekend will take place in Terni from 14 to 17 September with a different formula than the other events of the "system" Umbria Jazz, a formula that is characterized by the free of all events. Twenty-two of the fifty-five concerts on the bill will be in the squares and streets of the center, with two excursions in the Marmore Falls. The others will take place in the city premises. The shows in the square can be seen as a reminder, in the year of the fiftieth anniversary of Umbria Jazz, the original formula of the Festival, born as an event in the square and free. 

The premises will, instead, be a sign of continuity with the cultural and social life of the city.

All bands will be residents, and can be heard all four days of the festival.

The program prepared by the artistic director, Carlo Pagnotta, will be aimed at highlighting the internationality of jazz, music without borders like no other.

In the squares and streets of the center of Terni you can hear:

PEDRITO MARTINEZ "ECHOES OF AFRICA", the Cuban percussion virtuoso, New Yorker by adoption, in a project that returns to the African roots of Caribbean genres;

FRED WESLEY & THE NEW JB’S, the historical leader of the wind section of James Brown, depositary of the best tradition of metropolitan funky;

RAY GELATO & THE GIANTS, born in England by American parents, author of a funny jive and excellent musical quality, as well as ironic Italian swing songs;

THE SWINGERS ORCHESTRA, Italian octet celebrating the great orchestras of the Swing Era, from Benny Goodman to Count Basie;

FUNK OFF (*), the Tuscan street band that invented a modern take on New Orleans marching bands.

In the premises will be the scene:

"DEAR DEXTER" SEXTET, bop sextet inspired by Dexter Gordon: the musicians are Italian, American and Austrian;

OLIVIA TRUMMER & NICOLA ANGELUCCI: piano/ drums duo, she is German, pianist and singer, he Italian, drummer;

FRANCESCO BEARZATTI P.A.Z. - POST ATOMIC ZEP "PLAYS LED ZEPPELIN", an all-electric trio that plays the music of Led Zeppelin with amazing results;

LORENZO HENGELLER, Neapolitan pianist and singer who refers with humor and lightness to the great Neapolitan tradition and its historical performers;

MAX PIRONE’S FAT SWING 4tet feat. Clara Simonoviez special guest Claudio "Greg" Gregori

Quartet that moves with ease between jazz and swing, with a repertoire that includes reinterpretations of songs by Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Frank Sinatra.
