GemellArte Off 2024

The new edition of GemellArte Off is back, a free review of French films, screened in original language with Italian subtitles, which will take place on Sundays 13, 20 and 27 October 2024 at 5 p.m., at the Sala dell'Orologio, inside the Caos - Centro arti opificio Siri in Terni.
On 20 October there will be a screening of Les demoiselles de Rochefort (1967), a ‘historical’ film directed by Jacques Demy, director Palme d'Or at Cannes with Les parapluies de Cherbourg, and Oscar candidate for best soundtrack in 1968. A formidable cast, including Catherine Deneuve, Françoise Dorléac, Jacques Perrin, Danielle Darrieux, Michel Piccoli and Gene Kelly, the extraordinary performer of the American musical.
On 27 October, on the other hand, Ibrahim (2020), a film juxtaposed with Italian neorealism by director Samir Guesmi. It is the story of a dramatic relationship between father and son, strongly rooted in the contemporary French suburbs, tormented but also pervaded by a great and painful love The film shows the facts, which are not limited to the father-son relationship, but investigate a rough, violent, uncritical social reality. There are no moralistic temptations in the narrative, it is just observation of reality. A film that is one of the many acts of conscience with which France, through its ‘cinema of reality’, has represented and represents itself.
