31st "Paolo D'Aloya Memorial"
The Paolo D'Aloya Memorial is a by-now classical appointment in the rowing international calendar. The event, now in its 31st edition, is going to take place along the Piediluco's Lake from the 7th to the 9th.
Born in 1987 to recall Paolo d'Aloja, President of the Rowing Italian Federation in the 1970s and 1980s, the International Regatta involved, since its inception, dozen of teams coming from all over the world.
In 2016 the participating nations were 26: Algeria, Zimbabwe, Tunisia, Libia, Egypt, Togo, Angola, Croatia, Denmark, Spain, Finland, Greece, Ungary, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Czech Republic, Portugal, Slovenia, Ukraine, Canada, Japan, Qatar and United Arab Emirates.
The event is a real technical test for the crews present: since it takes place at the beginning of the sport season, it allows indeed to verify the preparation of athletes in sight of the Olympic appointments and World's Championships.
