In the charming village of Massa Martana, from 7 December 2024 to 6 January 2025, the 21st edition of ‘Presepi d'Italia’, the National Exhibition of the Artistic Crib, will be staged. In just a few years, this event has established itself at a national level, so much so that it is counted among the three most important crib exhibitions in Italy.
The Ice Nativity this year will be more than ever the highlight of the event: a special nativity, which will be inspired by the ‘Adoration of the Magi’ by Gentile da Fabriano (Fabriano, 1370 - Rome 1427), whose fairy-tale and poetic painting brought him to the top of the Italian school of the time, so much so that Giorgio Vasari (Arezzo 1511 - Florence 1574) wrote of him ‘In painting he had a hand like a name’.
It will be a thrilling nativity scene, sculpted on large blocks of ice, that will amaze for its beauty.
Thirty quintals of ice will be used to make it and it will shine as if illuminated by a million lights.
It will be preserved, in all its beauty, at - 17° C for the duration of the exhibition.
It will be the attraction that will attract visitors from every region of Italy, a true joy for young and old alike.
