The journey can start from Magione, a village located on a hill not far from the lake. It is recommended to visit the Lambardi Tower, from which you can enjoy a splendid view of the surrounding valley, and the Castle of the Knights of Malta which, originally a hospital of the Knights Hospitaller – now the Knights of Malta – is today the site of a farm. Once the visit to Magione is complete, heading towards Passignano sul Trasimeno, a quick stop at the small but picturesque village of Monte del Lago, a source of inspiration for poets and artists, including the poetess Vittoria Aganoor, is a must.

Upon arriving in Passignano, one can explore the old part where, at the highest point of the village, the Rocca is located, built in the medieval period. If the schedule allows, consider changing the mode of transportation and taking the ferry for a visit to the islands of Trasimeno; alternatively, one can relax by walking along the lake and perhaps stopping at a restaurant to try the lake fish specialties. If visiting the area at the end of July, before leaving, do not miss the Palio delle Barche and the magnificent spectacle of the fire at the Castle starring the Rocca!

At this point, take the camper to another village: Castiglione del Lago. It is one of the most characteristic and picturesque places of Trasimeno: the walkway of the Rocca del Leone, which dominates the water mirror, offers a breathtaking view of the lake and the hills surrounding the promontory on which the village stands. But Castiglione is not just views: worth visiting is the Palazzo della Corgna, decorated with the beautiful frescoes by Salvio Savini and Pomarancio. With Castiglione del Lago, the first part of the itinerary concludes. Once the visit is finished, resume the E45 heading south, leaving Trasimeno behind.

Before moving to the next lake, we recommend a stop in Orvieto, where you can easily find parking for the camper, both in the central area and outside the city, very close to the funicular station. The initial impact with Orvieto is definitely impressive, with the view of the entire village on a massive tuff outcrop that overlooks the surrounding territory. Of great interest are the religious buildings, among which the Duomo stands out with its rich facade, the ceramics of its mosaics, and its bicolor columns; the local craftsmanship (ceramics and Orvieto lace) and tasty gastronomic specialties, especially the local wines, are also noteworthy. The underground also hides treasures: among these, the Pozzo di San Patrizio and the underground city, the latter carved in the tunnels that wind in the bowels of the cliff, stand out.

A short distance from Orvieto, the itinerary meets the course of the Tiber river: it enters the territory of the Tevere River Park, a protected area that includes another two bodies of water, Lake Corbara and Lake Alviano with its naturalistic oasis. Both host herons and rare birds, which find shelter in the lush river vegetation, making this stage a must for nature and birdwatching lovers. Adventure seekers will also be satisfied: canyoning and rowing, in addition to sport fishing, are perfect activities to enjoy nature without neglecting sport.

We change elements again, moving from water to earth! Like Orvieto, Narni also preserves beneath its surface a system of crypts, cisterns, and aqueducts, which take visitors on a journey through time to the era of the Etruscans. Once reaching the surface, it is possible to visit the many churches of the village and the Piazza dei Priori, with the majestic palaces that face it and the artworks housed within them. Before leaving the city, a stop to admire the Augustus Bridge, among the most beloved monuments of the ancient Via Flaminia, is a must.

Finally, we head towards Terni, thus approaching the final destinations of the journey. Just a few minutes from the city of Saint Valentine lies another wonder, this time natural (but with a significant human intervention), always appreciated by writers, artists, and nature lovers. The Marmore Falls, among the highest in Europe, with its three leaps and its five walking paths, await visitors to show its mighty force (and offer them a refreshing unexpected shower, especially appreciated in summer!).

We conclude with Lake Piediluco: another obligatory stop on the Umbrian stretch of the 19th-century Grand Tour for its pleasant scenery, today its calm waters are appreciated both by rowing enthusiasts and anyone wanting to enjoy a peaceful walk along the lakefront and through the alleys of the small village of Piediluco. In short, it is the perfect place for every camper.
