The art of glass

For families, adults, children and schools, many activities to learn about the art of glass. You will find yourself in the village of Piegaro, where glassmaking has never stopped for seven centuries. Here, in the historic centre, the Glass Museum is the main custodian of this cultural heritage.

It is an ancient glassworks that, in addition to preserving precious local artefacts, offers numerous workshops: glass fusing, glass engraving, leaded glass technique, Tiffany technique, lampworking, jewellery making, cold glass painting and others.

Here it will not only be possible to learn about the machinery of the time, but also to experience the techniques of direct printing: letterpress, intaglio and lithography.

Did you know that the oldest Italian ceramics museum exists in the centre of Deruta? And did you know that inside its exhibition space (a monastery founded in 1008) you can experience all the decorative phases of this art?

Thanks to the various workshops suitable for both adults and children, you will learn how to use the tools and techniques according to tradition, including "sgraffio" decoration, in use in Deruta workshops since the second half of the 15th century. At the end of your experience, you will be able to take home your own unique and original piece.
