The 11th edition of Assisi pax Mundi, an international review of Franciscan Sacred Music, will be held from October 17 to 20, 2024, with concerts taking place at different times of the day in the Franciscan places in and around Assisi.
The review, organised by the Franciscan Families of Assisi with the collaboration of the Musical Chapel of the Papal Basilica of St. Francis, intends to truly offer a chance for dialogue, communion and peace. In fact, the participating artists will have the opportunity to experience moments of authentic sharing.
Moreover, this year the Franciscan Families are celebrating the eighth centenary of the impression of the Stigmata of St. Francis that took place at La Verna in 1224 and, in commemorating this significant event, Assisi Pax Mundi will celebrate, through music, both the theme of the ‘Stigmata’, but also the mystery of the death and resurrection of Jesus, proposing to all, especially to the choral world, the contemplation in music of: ‘I have been crucified with Christ’.
The climax of the event will be the final concert on Saturday 19 October and the concluding Eucharistic Celebration on Sunday 20 October, which will see the participation of all the registered groups. At the end of the Holy Mass, the participating choirs will perform together the Canticle of the Creatures by Fr. Domenico Stella.
