Deruta celebrates the start of the Christmas season with events that will animate the historic centre of the City of Majolica and will last until 6 January 2025. 
It will begin on 8 December 2024, the day on which the traditional lighting of the Ceramic Christmas Tree, recognised as the largest in the world, will take place. 
The event represents the symbolic act that inaugurates the programme of Christmas initiatives, which will include artistic exhibitions, offering visitors the opportunity to admire the ceramic creations and Christmas works that decorate the village, animations for children and tastings of typical local products.
At 16:30, the opening ceremony of the event will take place in Piazza dei Consoli. Children will be entertained by animations featuring the characters of Elsa from Frozen and Harry Potter, as well as numerous children's make-up and other surprises. In addition, food stands will open, offering the opportunity to taste traditional dishes.
At 5 p.m., in the Sala del Consiglio Comunale, there will be a presentation of the festivities programme, which will include the screening of the promotional video ‘Merry Christmas in Deruta’.
At 6 p.m., there will be the lighting of the world's largest Ceramic Christmas Tree, activated by Anna Falchi and Cristiana Pedersoli.
