From 6 to 29 September 2024, the MUAM - Gubbio Museum of Arts and Crafts is hosting an exhibition dedicated to ‘Violin Making and the Art of Violin Making’. The exhibition event offers a journey through the history of Italian violin making, with a special focus on Gubbio's tradition; a path designed to highlight the meticulous art of violin making, analysing each stage of the process, from the selection of the wood to the final creation.
The exhibition highlights the evolution of the violin, not only as a musical instrument, but also as an artistic subject in the visual arts. In fact, the exhibition will highlight how the imagination of some painters has fertilised the art of violin making over the centuries. Some special events will enrich the exhibition period. In particular, there will be three musical events ranging from the fascinating melodies of the Belle Époque to the great works of classical music, to performances by the students of the Al Fondino music school in Gubbio. These events will offer a musical journey through different eras and styles, showing the versatility and timeless beauty of stringed instruments.
