Montone: from Christmas to Epiphany 2024
The festive atmosphere, full of lights, colours and music, is ready to envelop Montone, from 8 December to 12 January, and promises to provide unforgettable moments with entertainment, walks to discover art, the unfailing competition dedicated to the most beautiful nativity scene, and other initiatives designed to make young and old alike dream.
The programme will officially kick off on 8 December, Immaculate Conception Day, with the lighting of the Christmas Tree in Piazza Fortebraccio. Also on Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., there will be the Christmas Market where, in addition to the traditional decorations and themed items, there will also be food and wine stalls.
There will also be numerous initiatives dedicated to children, such as the workshop ‘Un albero coi fiocchi’ (A tree with bows) on Saturday 7 December, at the Museo di San Francesco, and the treasure hunt ‘Dove sono finiti i regali di Babbo Natale?’ (Where have Santa's presents gone?), in Piazza Fortebraccio on Sunday 22 December, at 3 p.m. Also not to be missed, again for the little ones, is ‘Natale sotto l'albero’ (Christmas under the tree) with Father Christmas and his reindeer who will bring gifts to the children on Monday 23.
Also of note is the opening in the Antica Prigione of the nativity scene created by Leonardo Formica, from 20 December, and the possibility from 15 December to admire the exhibition of nativity scenes in the streets of the village created as part of the ‘Presepiando’ competition.
Events also include New Year's Eve in the Square, Tuesday 31 December, with a party in Piazza Fortebraccio, live music with Outside Band, and the fireworks display.
Opening the New Year will be the Chamber Orchestra ‘I Concertisti’ with music from the most famous opera arias, scheduled at 6 pm in the San Francesco church.
On 5 January, in Piazza Fortebraccio, the prize-giving ceremony of the ‘Presepiando’ competition will be held. On 6 January, the Befana will arrive, followed on 12 January by the ‘Canti della Pasquella’, with the gathering of the ‘Pasquellari’, mulled wine and bruschetta for all participants.
