Notre Dame de Fukushima

From 6 July to 22 September 2024, it will be possible to visit 'Notre Dame de Fukushima', a solo exhibition by Franco Fiorillo, curated by Maurizio Coccia and Mara Predicatori, at Palazzo Lucarini, in Trevi
This is a multi-year project focusing on the complex and topical theme of the catastrophe. For this exhibition, the artist decided to use Artificial Intelligence to design his works, proposing a humanistic use of it. This meant establishing a relational generative code. An expansive mode of one's own consciousness that is confronted with the executive results of the machine. The concluding manual intervention restores the fragrance of the unexpected, characteristic of the human element, as the biological and existential being of the works. An opportunity to explore new territories of meaning, between public dimension and private restlessness.
Fiorillo's works reflect on the consequences of disasters, both collective and personal, starting with the tragedy of Fukushima, elevated to the rank of universal compendium of all the ghosts linked to the 'final catastrophe'. Each work is accompanied by a rigorous philosophical framework as well as an extraordinary aesthetic fascination. An alienating itinerary among hundreds of small, vintage-looking pieces accompanies the visitor in an articulated diorama through the rooms of Palazzo Lucarini.
