PerSo - Perugia Social Film Festival
From 27 September to 9 October, the 10th edition of PerSo - Perugia Social Film Festival returns, dedicated to documentary cinema and reflections on contemporary and film languages.
There will be twelve days of screenings with free admission, with special events, films out of competition, presentations and masterclasses.
‘Cinema machine of peace’ is the claim chosen this year to describe the spirit of the event, which acts as a showcase for stories and issues from different areas of the world and aims to show the public the best of documentary filmmaking produced globally, in an official selection that in this tenth edition sees works from 18 countries.
It will start on Friday 27 September at 9.30 p.m., at the Cinema Zenith in Perugia, with the national preview screening of ‘Mein Zimmer’ - my room’, by Austrian director Monika Sthul inside the houses of the P.R.I.S.M.A. Project of the Fondazione La Città del Sole, in each of which a person with psychic disorders lives together with people with housing needs, mainly students.
On Wednesday 2 October, at the inclusive restaurant Numero Zero, there will be the presentation of ‘Colmare le distanze: 10 anni di cinema in carcere’ (Bridging distances: 10 years of cinema in prison), a book that collects the contributions of authors, trainers and authorities on the activities carried out and the opportunities for cinema and audiovisual education in prison contexts.
On Saturday 5 October, instead, at the PostModernissimo, there will be a screening of the restored film ‘I corpi presentano tracce di violenza carnale’ by Sergio Martino, filmed and set in Perugia, with guests in the auditorium the director Sergio Martino and Luc Merenda (actor), with Alessandro Boschi (critic, lecturer and presenter of Hollywood Party).
