Camera Oscura - Robert Doisneau

From 15 November 2024 to 4 May 2025 the exhibition ‘In Brief. Robert Doisneau', curated by Alessandra Mauro at the space dedicated to photography within the permanent itinerary of the Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria.
The exhibition presents a selection of photographs that narrate the poetics of the Parisian photographer, including the icon par excellence of this author, the famous Kiss at the Hotel de Ville.
Robert Doisneau, one of the most influential photographers of his time, was able to portray post-World War II Paris in a series of images that were perfect in terms of construction and poetry. During his career he collaborated with the world's leading magazines and embodied in reality, but above all in the imagination of generations of admirers, the emblem of the artist ready to capture scenes of everyday bonheur, tenderness and solidarity.
Numerous and memorable are the images he left behind that form the visual horizon and the extraordinary image of a city that partly exists and partly is perhaps a figment of his imagination.
The exhibition consists of a selection of some of the most famous images from his production, in a selection developed with his heirs and the Atelier Robert Doisneau in Paris.
