Orvieto Festival della Piana del Cavaliere 2024

From 5 to 15 September 2024 the 8th edition of the Orvieto Festival will be staged at the Teatro Mancinelli in Orvieto.
The event, curated by artistic director Anna Leonardi, this year will be dedicated to the theme of "Metamorphosis" and, during its course, internationally renowned artists will take turns on stage in a rich parterre of events including concerts, shows, themed conferences, figurative arts and theatre.
The kick-off will be on Thursday 5, 9 p.m., with 'Ensemble InCanto' with soprano E.Cenni and conductor F.Maestri. Spectators will be enchanted by the notes of G. Puccini's Adagetto, by conductor Maestri, and Mahler's 4th Symphony, in Stein's version.
On Friday 6, at 9 p.m., the festival will get into full swing with the Festival Preview, 'Ludwig van Beethoven, Symphony No. 9', in the version for two pianos.
Saturday 7, at 5.00 p.m., appointment with the Literary Conference held by Prof. Bruno Milone dedicated to the theme "Metamorphosis", and at 9.00 p.m., the opening concert "Tre Fenomeni" (Three Phenomena), by Oscar winner Nicola Piovani, who will conduct the Vittorio Calamani Philharmonic Orchestra in collaboration with Umbria Green Festival.
On Thursday 12, at 9 p.m., it will be the turn of the show 'Il Diario di Gian Burrasca', based on Il giornalino di Gian Burrasca by Vamba, with actors C.Berardi and M.Saccomandi and music by Rota performed by the Orchestra Filarmonica V. Calamani. 
Friday 13, 9 p.m., an appointment with Puccini on the 100th anniversary of his death. "Ho dovuto ucciderle (quasi) tutte" (I had to kill (almost) all of them), an excursus among Puccini's divas, united by the destiny of death, whether natural or violent, desired by the author. Poli and  Cappelletto retrace, with soprano Forte and piano by Scolastra, Puccini's arias and instrumental pieces from La Bohème, Tosca, M.Lescaut, Suor Angelica, Madama Butterfly and Turandot.
Saturday 14, at 9 p.m., 'Rita', opéra-comique in one act by G.Donizetti, libretto by Gustavo Vaez.
Last appointments on Sunday 15 September. At 6.30 pm, grand finale with the Orchestra di Fiati dell'Umbria conducted by Giovanni Ieie, which will bring together Umbria's bands in a unique, wide-ranging project.
