Trekking on the Nera Greenway path from Sant'Anatolia di Narco to Ceselli

The Nera Greenway is an itinerary that crosses numerous municipalities and natural areas of community interest, created to discover and experience the scenic and environmental beauty of the Nera Valley, an example of ‘green’ tourist infrastructure particularly appreciated by national and international visitors

The suggested stretch from Sant'Anatolia to Ceselli follows CAI path no. 540 and is also an important connection with the route of the former Spoleto-Norcia railway line to the north and with the Via di Francesco and CAI path no. 506 ‘Sentiero Pio IX’ to the south.

On a dirt surface, it is easy to walk and suitable for everyone, as it runs mainly along wide flat stretches, making the walk pleasant and enjoyable even for families. Along the way, it is possible to admire some splendid sites of naturalistic importance, such as the riparian strips of the River Nera and the Valcasana springs.

The itinerary begins by climbing from the locality of Palombara to the centre of Sant'Anatolia di Narco, where it is possible to stop and visit the Museo della Canapa (Hemp Museum), founded in 2008 to collect and preserve evidence of the cultivation and exploitation of hemp in the past and its modern applications.

Continuing along the road that runs alongside the Convent of Santa Croce, we arrive at Scheggino, an enchanting village nestled between the Valcasana landscape and the Nera River.

Crossing the centre of the village, we take the stretch of the Green Way that, again skirting the River Nera, leads to Ceselli.
