This is one of the easiest routes among those proposed in our portal, but this does not make it less interesting, since it allows you to discover the beauty of the village and the surroundings of Bevagna, along traffic-free roads and the unique atmosphere of the countryside between Subasio and the hills overlooking Bevagna and Bettona.
Bevagna is one of the region’s best known and most characteristic villages and should definitely be visited by those on vacation in Umbria.
The itinerary starts right from the centre of the village and then heads towards Budino and Cannara, alternating between dirt and paved roads. The only stretch requiring attention, because it is busier, is from km 3.5 to km 5, along the SS316.
Cannara is located about halfway along the route. It deserves a stop and can be an opportunity to rest and refill water bottles.
From here, the itinerary continues on the road that touches the localities of Pian d’Arca (where St. Francis preached to the birds) and Torre del Colle (the only short climb of the day). From Torre del Colle you can enjoy a panoramic view toward Assisi and Spello, on Mount Subasio, and the surrounding valley.
For something even easier, from Cannara you can decide to return to Bevagna on the Assisi-Spoleto cycle path, which is completely flat.
