Gemellarte - Festival Internazionale di Arte Contemporanea 2024
GemellArte serves as a cultural bridge between the cities of Terni and Saint-Ouen, just outside Paris, which have been twinned for over 60 years. At the heart of the initiative is a parallel double artist residency, open through a call running from September 1 to 30.
As per tradition, the event will offer this artistic exchange opportunity: an Italian artist will be sent to Saint-Ouen, while a French artist will be hosted in Terni. The theme chosen for this edition, "harmonie" (harmony), is deeply meaningful. Throughout its six years of history, GemellArte has explored themes such as dreams, love, hope, beauty, overcoming borders, rebirth, revolution, joy, and infinite horizons. This year, however, the festival invites artists to raise a powerful cry of rebellion against indifference to global conflicts and the broken harmony of the world, to promote a vision of universal harmony.
In Terni, the façade of the "Cesare Battisti" primary school will be the location for this year's artistic intervention, an educational and cultural context that brings the artwork closer to new generations. The mural will be approximately 8x6.5 meters.
The call is free and open from September 1 to 30 to all artists residing in Italy and the Île-de-France region, with no age limits.
The artist residency in Terni will take place from October 22 to 1 November, with the mural's inauguration scheduled for Saturday, November 2.
