More than 80 events from 1 December to 14 January renew the Christmas event ‘It happens at Christmas in Spoleto’.
There will be a preview on Friday 29 November, at 5.30 p.m., with the lighting of the large Christmas Tree, 13 metres high, in Piazza Garibaldi. Godmother of honour at the ceremony will be Olympic rhythmic gymnastics champion Agnese Duranti.
Also on 29 November, the Christmas illuminations in the city will be switched on and there will be video mapping in Piazza della Libertà.
The actual programme of events will begin on Sunday 1 December with the opening of the ‘Frozen Park’ ice rink in the former Spoleto-Norcia railway car park, which will remain in Spoleto until 2 February 2025.
The programme will continue until 14 January, the Feast of the Patron Saint, with appointments dedicated to children. From 8 December, the Father Christmas Village will be set up in Piazza Pianciani, while at Palazzo Antonelli in Corso Garibaldi there will be Father Christmas's Post Office House. The exhibitions at Palazzo Collicola will be inaugurated on Saturday 14 December and Spoleto, the city in a Nativity scene, will be inaugurated on Saturday 7 December at the former Museo Civico.
In addition, it will be possible to take part in theatre performances, marching bands, treks and guided tours of the city.
On 31 December, in Piazza Duomo from 10.45 p.m., New Year's Eve in the Square is scheduled. Quixote. The Enchantment of the Knight, fire, stilts, pyrotechnic effects, aerial dance, acrobatics and fire juggling for a show with over 30 performers.
