Tesori all’Isola - “In limine, sulla soglia”
From 23 November 2024 to 2 February 2025 the exhibition Tesori all'Isola - ‘In limine, on the threshold’ will be on display at, Isola San Lorenzo, Perugia.
The initiative ‘Tesori all'Isola’ (Treasures on the Island) was launched in 2021 with the intention of exhibiting works of art of various types and provenance, with the aspiration of restoring the historical and artistic heritage of the area to visitors.
The title of this year's exhibition is ‘In limine. On the Threshold' and is linked not only to Christmas, but also to the Jubilee year that will officially begin on Christmas Eve. The Latin expression ‘In limine’ is taken from the first lyric in the collection Ossi di Seppia, published in 1925 by the poet Eugenio Montale. Stepping through a door and crossing the physical limit of the threshold are some of the concepts that the exhibition aims to address through the works of local art from the Castello di Pieve del Vescovo in Corciano, which has been closed to the public for several years.
Also this year there will be a dialogue with contemporary art: the sculptor Artemio Giovagnoni, in fact, created the Holy Door of Perugia Cathedral in 2000 and cast in bronze a tile with the scene of the Annunciation, which is also usually not on display.
