The Ciclovia winds around Lake Trasimeno, the fourth largest lake in Italy, within its regional park.
It develops by alternating long stretches in its own roadbed with neighbouring roads or dirt roads with almost no traffic, although there are still a few kilometres on roads that require attention, especially for beginners or those travelling with children.

The points at which it is necessary to return to the main road are at the built-up areas of Passignano sul Trasimeno and San Feliciano (to avoid the road, take advantage of the pavements) and on Via Romea, before the intersection with SR142.

A critical stretch (where care must be taken because traffic may be encountered) is the 400 metres at the flats ‘La Folaga sul Trasimeno’, before Sant'Arcangelo.

The route is completely flat and can be tackled with any type of bike, with the exception of racing bikes, and cycled in both directions, but the advice is to cycle clockwise, so as to minimise crossings and make the experience more pleasant.

It is signposted with brown tourist signs.

The gpx track is available, compatible with mobile phones and cycle computers. It can also be consulted on KOMOOT

San Feliciano is the starting and finishing point of the track, but you can access the cycle route from any access point and you can change the route, visiting the islands, for example, by taking advantage of the ferries.

The main access points to the cycle route can be consulted HERE.

Towns and villages along the route:

1 – Oasi La Valle and San Feliciano

La Valle Nature Reserve, near the village of San Savino - a hamlet of Magione - covers about 1000 hectares within the Trasimeno Regional Park. It is a destination for birdwatchers; from its observatories one can admire the more than 200 species of birds that cross and populate the area every year. A few kilometres away is the village of San Feliciano, with its pier from which you can enjoy stunning sunsets over the lake. From San Feliciano you can reach Isola Polvese by ferry.

2 - Castiglione del Lago

Among the “Most Beautiful Villages of Italy”, Castiglione del Lago stands on a hilly promontory overlooking the shores of the lake. Known for its beaches, lakeside promenade and marina, highlights of its historic centre include the Rocca del Leone and Palazzo della Corgna.

3 - Tuoro sul Trasimeno

The historic Battle of Trasimeno took place in Tuoro in 217 BC, to which the Museo di Annibale is dedicated. A short distance from the centre of the village, the Campo del Sole open-air museum at Punta Navaccia on the lakefront is worth a visit. From the pier, you can take a ferry to Isola Maggiore, home to a quaint village.

4 – Passignano

Passignano is renowned for its charming lakeside promenade and well-equipped beaches, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing day out. Don't miss the medieval fortress, which overlooks the town, offering a view on the three islands of Lake Trasimeno: Maggiore, Minore and Polvese.

5 - Monte del Lago

The village, located between Torricella and San Feliciano, is perched on a promontory overlooking Lake Trasimeno. From the lakeside, a steep flight of steps leads to its historic centre. Two splendid palaces, Villa Aganoor Pompilj and Palazzo Schnabl, bear witness to the village’s rich cultural history.
