The Church of San Filippo - Nocera Umbra

The church of St. Philip is situated along a charming street with seventeenth-century arcades, at the top of Nocera Umbra.

Constructed between 1864 and 1868 in neo-Gothic style, the church was designed by the architect Luigi Poletti and financed thanks to Monsignor Francesco Amoni. The porticoed facade is decorated by a large rose window flanked by the symbols of the four evangelists (Eagle, Angel, Lion and Bull). The interior retains, on the high altar, a painting depicting the Death of St. Philip with an apparition of the Madonna by Francesco Grandi. In the sacristy there is an eighteenth-century Beheading of John the Baptist.
