The World's Biggest Christmas Tree 2024
The 44th edition of the world's largest Christmas Tree will be held from 7 December 2024 to 12 January 2025, as part of Gubbio is Christmas - ChristmasLand.
The Tree, which has now entered the Guinness Book of Records, has been erected since 1981 on Mount Ingino, which lies behind the town of Gubbio; in detail, it is composed of about 700 luminous bodies of various types and colours, is over 750 metres high and occupies an area of apparently 130,000 square metres. Moreover, it hides its roots inside the walls of the medieval city, reaching as high as the Basilica of Sant'Ubaldo thanks to its star, located on top of Mount Ingino.
The lighting ceremony of the Tree will be held on 7 December, in Piazza 40 Martiri, and promises to be an event full of novelties, surprises and spectacular moments. For the first time, the conduction will be entrusted to Fabio Vagnarelli and Davide Calabrese of Oblivion, with the participation of Ubaldo Gini and Silvia Procacci.
Opening the evening, at 5.30 p.m., will be the Sbandieratori della Città di Gubbio (Flag-wavers of the City of Gubbio) with their enthusiastic greeting. This will be followed by high-level musical guests, starting with singer Sara Jane Ceccarelli accompanied by musicians Paolo Ceccarelli and Lorenzo de Angelis. Moreover, for the first time in Gubbio, the children and young people of the Pesaro ‘Grillo d'Oro’ Choir, directed by Maestro Gabriele Foschi, will perform.
To mark the approach to the highlight of the evening, the lighting of the lights on Mount Ingino, there will be a unique performance, dedicated to the spirit of the Alberaioli, involving the dance schools of Gubbio with the collaboration of choreographer Luca Magnoni, the video direction of Claudio Sannipoli and the voice of Francesca Ciavaglia.
