CECCOBELLI Anni ‘80

From 25 April to 22 September 2024, it will be possible to visit Bruno Ceccobelli's solo exhibition entitled 'CECCOBELLI Anni '80' at Palazzo del Vignola in Todi.
The exhibition, edited by Carlo Vanoli, includes 50 'Pictosculptures' selected from private Umbrian collections, created in the decade of the 1980s.
The historical period in question saw the Umbrian artist's activity take place in Rome, in the studio of the former Pastificio Cerere, in the creative quarter of San Lorenzo; this decade determined Ceccobelli's national and international success, with exhibitions in galleries and museums in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Paris, London, Porto, Madrid, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Cologne, Berlin, Basel, Stuttgart, Rottweil, Vienna and Moscow.
Ceccobelli's art can be defined as abstract-symbolic: it starts from eclectic cultural and stylistic roots involving both Neo-Platonic and Oriental philosophies, with studies of Theosophy, Buddhism, Hinduism, Zen and Taoism.
His poetic vision leads him to be convinced that, almost magically, 'the work makes the operator', hence that there is a direct and indissoluble relationship between life and art.
The 'abstract-symbolic' aesthetics of Bruno Ceccobelli manifests itself with a post-modern expressiveness, as the result of an unconscious ritual of the present, it is the bearer of messages ranging from various alchemic mythologies to mystical paradigms, in its evangelical desire to spiritualise its psycho-somatic matter. Ceccobelli understands his pictorial research as a practice without style, for the artist a simulacrum of redemption that contrasts the current vulgar worldliness.
